Glass - Perpetual movement
The Atmos Infinite reimagines the iconic perpetual clock with a contemporary aesthetic. An ode to transparency and minimalism, the clock features a glass cabinet and a white lacquered dial composed of two concentric circles that create an impression of visual depth. The dial is complemented by polished baton-shaped applied indexes and tiny indented minutes dots on the metal outer ring. Powered by everyday fluctuations in air temperature, the Atmos Infinite boasts a 360° view of its intricate Calibre 570 - drawing attention to the membrane, chain, and circular balance wheel. Featuring fine watchmaking finishes creating shimmering light effects, this kinetic work of art captures the singular spirit of the Atmos while reinterpreting all of its essential features in contemporary style in a limited edition of 100 pieces.

MECHANISM

THE PERPETUAL CLOCK

Running independently of any human intervention, it draws its energy from infinitesimal variations in the ambient air temperature. The secret lies in a hermetically sealed, gas-filled capsule, which is connected to the clock’s drive spring by a membrane. A temperature change of one degree allows the capsule to contract and expand, winding the mechanism and giving the clock a two-day power reserve.

The Atmos produces minimal energy and consumes very little. A single 15-watt light bulb uses the same energy as 60 million Atmos clocks.

DESIGN

A PURE OBJECT OF ART

Nicknamed Atmos Infinite ‘Halo’ to echo the dial’s shape and a luminous ring around the sun or moon caused by the refraction of lights, the design of the Atmos Infinite is an object of startling purity yet remains true to the intrinsic identity of the Atmos. Reinterpreting the timeless elegance of the classical Art Deco “glass box” cabinet for the 21st century, the cylindrical glass cabinet of the Atmos Infinite ‘Halo’ also recalls the rounded glass domes of the very earliest models.

MINIMALISTIC YET REMARKABLE

The dial has been reduced to its minimum. Finished in white lacquer, the dial is composed of two circles onto which polished baton-shaped indexes have been applied, and is complemented by hands that match the silvery rhodium finish of the mechanism. On a metal outer ring, the minutes are marked by tiny indented dots. Their form echoes the round indentations on the annular balance, which spins back and forth in its slow and mesmerising rhythm beneath the body of the movement.

REVEALING ALL ITS SECRETS

With its complete absence of visual distraction, the seamless glass cabinet gives full value to the remarkable Atmos mechanism. From every angle, this transparency allows an unrestricted view of the entire mechanism, with the bellows, chains and gears that keep the clock moving.

FLOATING IN THE AIR

The calibre appears, at first glance, to float freely in the Atmos cabinet, as if it were not attached to any structure. Our designers and watchmakers worked together to develop a glass base encapsulating the balance wheel and designed to be virtually invisible, giving this feeling of levitation. An eye-catching design element.

HERITAGE

A REVOLUTION IN TIMEKEEPING

Thanks to a revolutionary mechanism invented by Jean-Léon Reutter in 1928 and brought to market by Jaeger-LeCoultre in the 1930s, the Atmos luxury clock lives on air. Its superb design has been reinvented and recrafted since its creation, elevating it to the rank of icon. Nicknamed the “President’s Clock”, the Atmos was the official gift of the Swiss Confederation.
