THE COLLECTIBLES
Futurematic E501
The Futurematic has many technical improvements that made it the most accurate automatic watch when it was launched in 1951. First wristwatch without a winding crown, its absence gives it a perfectly circular appearance. With its Dauphine hands and applied hour-markers, this timepiece has a distinguished elegance. The power reserve counter at 9 o’clock responds to the small seconds counter located at 3 o’clock for a well balanced dial.
Equipped with the self-winding Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 497, the watch is fitted with a new brown calfskin strap.
HERITAGE
THE FIRST ENTIRELY AUTOMATIC WATCH
In the early 1950s Jaeger-LeCoultre set out to revolutionize the modern wristwatch by launching a model that was truly ahead of its time. Featuring numerous technical improvements, the Futurematic ushered in a new era for the Manufacture, as it was built on revolutionary principles, without the conventional crown and winding mechanism. It is a model that shaped not only the production at Jaeger-LeCoultre in the 1950s, but also the history of watchmaking as a whole.
