THE MECHANICAL INGENUITY

Representing mechanical sophistication to reach the utmost timekeeping precision, Calibre 179 features the innovative multi-axis tourbillon. Associated with the Duoface complication, it displays a different time zone on each dial as well as a 24-hour indicator for the second time zone on the reverse dial.

BEATING PRECISION

The Manufacture’s engineers have created an hemispherical balance spring – which expands and contracts like a beating heart-, adding aesthetic refinement at the heart of the Gyrotourbillon, as well as being highly efficient.

THE FASTEST GYROTOURBILLON

Visually enthralling to observe as it pirouettes around its twin axes, the Gyrotourbillon is a highly complex structure of 123 components. Fastest ever, the inner tourbillon cage rotates 360 degrees every 16 seconds and the peripheral movement makes a full rotation once per minute.

THE FLYING SPECTACLE

Supported by a ring of ball bearings, the flying Gyrotourbillon appears to be floating between the front and back dials of the Reverso, which is amplified by the light reflected from the polished blue lacquer disc positioned on the supporting cradle of the watch.

SWIVELLING TO ANOTHER TIME

Pure expression of Jaeger-LeCoultre watchmaking expertise, this timepiece brings together the fastest flying Gyrotourbillon with the Duoface concept. Calibre 179 brings to life two dials with two distinct personalities, displaying a different time zone as well as a 24-hour indicator on the reverse dial.

THE LACQUERING ART

Creating a rich contrast with the pink gold case, the glowing dark blue lacquer deftly hand-applied appears on calibre plates metal, bridges or dials on both sides of the watch. A work of extraordinary precision made in our Manufacture’s Métiers Rares Atelier.

THE BEVELLING ART

Meticulous hand-finishing, bevelling represents approximately 14 hours of work just for the cage of the Gyrotourbillon. Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179 is testament to La Grande Maison’s commitment to hand-craftsmanship of the highest order.

THE SKELETONIZATION ART

Calibre 179 is fully skeletonized to reveal its deepest secrets. Dial and calibre plates have been reduced to their minimum for an aerial and aesthetic result: bevelling represents eight hours of work just for the signature shape of one bridge on the reverse side.

Gyrotourbillon

A multi-axis unique device invented in 2004 by Jaeger-LeCoultre to prevent errors due to changes in gravity from any position, guaranteeing the utmost timekeeping precision.
