ART INSTALLATION

“A LAKE OF SOUND” BY ZIMOUN

At the heart of the exhibition, discover ‘A Lake of Sound’ an art installation commissioned by Jaeger-LeCoultre from the Swiss contemporary artist, Zimoun. His fascinating work employs simple raw materials and repurposed industrial components, including watch parts – and, in doing so, redefines traditional ideas of sculpture, movement and sound, drawing the audience into an almost transcendent world of sensory experience. Zimoun’s installation creates a unique aural signature for Jaeger-LeCoultre, evoking the sounds of nature and of the Manufacture, and capturing the rippling of light on the surface of the lake seen from the watchmaking ateliers.

Guided by an expert, participate in a hands-on watchmaking course, learning why watches go ‘tick-tock’, how time can be expressed through sound, what makes a minute repeater chime – and the difference between a repeater and a Grande Sonnerie.
