THE DISCOVERY WORKSHOPS

Learn the story of Swiss fine watchmaking
INTRODUCTION

A DEEP IMMERSION IN SWISS FINE WATCHMAKING

Discovery Workshops are an opportunity to explore the world of Swiss fine watchmaking in a new way, blending academic education and hands-on experience.

THE CONCEPT

BETWEEN THEORY AND PRACTICE

Hosted by an instructor and a technical expert, each themed Workshops will explore one of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s signature areas of expertise and horological complications or reveal the inside story of a particular watch collection.

STEP 1: LEARN

Learn about the past, present and future of watchmaking at Jaeger-LeCoultre and go hands-on, using larger-scale models to try to replicate the work of the Maison’s watchmakers.

STEP 2: PRACTICE

Dive deep into the heart of watch movements to understand how they work; discover the technical and creative skills required for their fabrication; and explore the design principles and artistic crafts employed in Haute Horlogerie.

STEP 3: VISIT

Discovery Workshops are paired with a Manufacture Visit based on the same theme, to enable participants to observe how watchmakers apply the principles and skills in their day-to-day work.

I had an excellent experience and very much enjoyed learning about Antoine LeCoultre's agricultural origin, his inventive mind, and the movements created within Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture.

The setting is absolutely magnificent, both in terms of architecture and decoration as well as history and concentration of knowledge, expertise and unique skills. The workshop part would deserve to be a little longer including disassembly and reassembly, including the positioning of the balance wheel that we were not able to do. This is the fourth time that I have participated in this type of workshop and would gladly repeat the experience. The welcome is perfect, the animation of the workshop very educational, with in particular the retro projection (video) of the assembly phases by the watchmaker. Thank you to all the teams and the pleasure of repeating the experience.

Axel gave us an excellent introduction to the manufacture, it was extremely exciting! As a suggestion for improvement, I would offer several watch models (which you can buy) at the end of the tour. The visitors would certainly appreciate this. In my opinion, this was sorely lacking.
