The master artisans are bringing their unique talent to light through the Maison’s artistic creations.
70 HOURS OF MINITATURE PAINTING ENAMELLING
The first of many challenges in decorating the Reverso case-back was to reproduce Claude Monet’s original work onto a surface of 2 cm2. The enameller also had to create an illusion of the impasto and recreate the dreamlike quality of the originals, with their fleeting effects of light and atmosphere.
17 HOURS FOR THE GUILLOCHÉ ENAMELLED DIAL
The dial features grand feu enamel in a shade of blue that perfectly complements the colours of the sky on the case-back painting. Echoing the geometric lines of the Reverso, the herringbone guilloché pattern comprises 120 separate lines, each of which requires three passages of the lathe, making 360 lines altogether.

Chosen as the setting for the Homo Faber Biennial, the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, opposite St Mark’s Square, captivated Monet. In this view, painted as the sun set behind the island, the emphasis is on light, colours and reflections, reducing the buildings to a silhouette that anchors the composition.

The manually wound calibre 822 that drives the Reverso Tribute Enamel Monet watch is the epitome of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s philosophy. Entirely designed, produced and assembled in-house, calibre 822 is an uncommon rectangular movement allowing it to fit in the Reverso watch case.

THE BIRTH OF AN ICON
In 1931, Jaeger-LeCoultre launched a timepiece that was destined to become a classic of 20th-century design: the Reverso. As an object that so deftly synthesised form and function, it has become one of the most recognisable watches of all time, looking as fresh and modern today as when it first appeared.
While its blank metal flip side had begun as a purely functional solution to avoid damage to the dial, it was an ideal surface for personalisation with monograms, emblems or personal messages using lacquer, engraving, enamel or gemstones.
