WHEN ARTISTIC CREATIVITY MEETS THE PRECISION OF CELESTIAL PHENOMENA
Introducing Khalid Shafar, an Emirati designer, who brings his creative talent to Jaeger-LeCoultre's Made of Makers programme by creating a unique art installation for our Maison. Inspired by the sacred rhythms of Ramadan, `Crescent to Crescent’ celebrates the beauty of the moon cycle. Each of the 29 moons featured on the installation embodies our journey, highlighting time and transformation.
CREATION
AN INTERPRETATION OF THE MOON CYCLE
The art installation `Crescent to Crescent’ gets its inspiration from lunar cycle. As the moon’s shape and halo evolve each day, it creates a full cycle that paves the route for the new moon’s birth. Inspired by his visit to the Manufacture in Le Sentier, Khalid Shafar chose to incorporate a guilloché finish over each moon crescent on his work, paying tribute to this craft mastered by Jaeger-LeCoultre watchmakers.
When Jaeger-LeCoultre invited me to create an art installation in honour of this sacred time, I sought to capture the profound rhythm of time itself, drawing inspiration from the lunar cycle.

MADE OF MAKERS: REIMAGINING CREATIVE EXPRESSION
Made of Makers encapsulates a series of collaborations with artists and with artisans from various disciplines outside watchmaking, building a community of creators with similar values and visions of creativity, and provoking new conversations. With intense respect for the person in the process – the creativity of the mind and the skill of the hand – the programme focuses on creative souls who share the Maison’s values and whose work explores new forms of expression.
